  • JoAnn was born in Hannibal on Sept. 12, 1932, and went home to our Lord March 30, 2013.
She was raised in Hannibal and later lived in St. Louis.
She is survived by her five children, Bert Amick (married to Patricia), Armeda Cassell (married to Loren), Terri Rodriguez (married to Bill), Shane Brown and Kelli Kelsaw.
She is survived by her 10 grandchildren, William Rodriguez, Matthew Amick, Tricia Rodriguez, Lauren Amick, Douglas File, Tony Rodriguez, Cory File, Charles Burnett, Allissa Cassell and Bethany Burnett. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Michael, Myles, Kylie, Charlie and Roze.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Birney) Newlon, Hannibal; Kenneth (Shirley) McNeal, St. Louis; Shirley Kaye (Bill) Chaney, Hannibal; Wayne (Mary) McNeal, Hannibal; and Sherrie (Gene) Sheffield, Hannibal.
JoAnn was the loving wife of Frank Bauer, who passed away before her. The funeral service was held at Jefferson Barracks, where she was laid to rest with Frank. During the service, JoAnn’s granddaughter, Lauren Amick, offered the song, “Fly,” by Celine Dion, which everyone appreciated.
Her faith and courage carried her through many hard and difficult years of raising her five children, and she would often pray, “Lord, give me strength.” She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister and friend, who will be sorely missed. We pray that she has found peace at Jesus’ side and that we will all be together again someday.
Rest in peace with all our love.
