David E. Heffington, 61, of Palmyra, Missouri, died at 11:05 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at his home. David was born December 11, 1951, in Carrollton, Illinois, to Ellis and Wilma Fester Heffington.     He is survived by daughters: Amy Sims of Hannibal, Mo., and Tasha Heffington of Everett, Wash.; brother, Larry Heffington of Kampsville, Ill.; sister, Linda Heffington of Golden Eagle, Ill.;  grandchildren; Justin Sims, Bridget Sims, Jamia Harris of Hannibal, Mo., and Talon Johnson and Talea Warning of Everett, Wash.; great grandson, Jayce Levi Beckley-Sims; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a brother, Jim Heffington.   
David grew up on the family farm in Golden Eagle, Ill. He graduated from Brussels High School in 1969 and received an Associate Degree from Hannibal-La Grange College. David worked for Burlington- Northern Railroad as a switchman and retired in the late 1980’s.
He loved writing poetry, and listening to 60’s and 70’s music. He attended Tang Soo Do Karate Academy in Jerseyville, Ill., where he obtained his black belt degree. He loved drinking his sweet tea and being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandson and all of their friends. He will be sadly missed.
Memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to David Heffington Memorial Fund in care of Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
