  • Thomas E. Martin, 70, of New London, Mo., died at 10:34 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Services are pending at Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, Hannibal, Mo.

  • Thomas Edward Martin, 70, of New London, died at 10:34 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Hannibal Regional Hospital. Visitation will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, at First Christian Church, Hannibal, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Steve Barker will officiate.
    Mr. Martin was born April 13, 1942, in Jackson, MI to Clarence and Olive Kraft Martin. He was married to Anita A. Green Lucas on December 23, 1991, in Kauai. She survives. Other survivors include 2 sisters, Sharon Laser of New London and Judy Rosenberg of Muskegon, MI; five daughters: Julie Norgaard (Brad) of Glendale, AZ; Laurie Hutchinson (Terry) of Scottsdale, AZ; Kathy Peeler (Al) of Bedias, TX; Cindy Sue Richardson (Shane) of Kingston, TN; Anne Pirtle (Steven) of Kingston, TN; one step-daughter, Cindy Ann Sanchez (Gerald) of Phoenix, AZ; and one step-son, Kent Lucas (Marty) of Gilbert, AZ; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and 84 alpacas. He is preceded in death by his parents and step-son, David Lucas.
    He graduated in 1960, from Northwest High School in Jackson, MI. He received his BA degree from Michigan State University and his Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.
    He was first employed with Ernest and Young, Grand Rapids, MI; then Consumer Power, Jackson, MI; CFO of Ramada Inn, Phoenix AZ; and CEO of Marie Callender, Phoenix, AZ; a Partner of Gas Dynamics, Phoenix, AZ; CEO of Four Queens Casino, Las Vegas, NV; Chairman of the Board of Best Friends Pet Resorts, and a board member of Mexican Restaurants of Texas.
    He moved to New London in 2000, and established Starlight Alpaca Ranch in 2004. He was a member of First Christian Church, Hannibal.
