One day, that's all it's going to take for a Pike County jury to decide the fate of Rebecca Kirk.
After a quick process though the associate circuit court level, Kirk was in Pike County Circuit Court Tuesday morning where she was arraigned before Judge Chris Kunza Mennemeyer on two Class D felony charges of tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution.
Kirk admitted at the Calvin Duane Pettey murder trial in June 2012 she was having a sexual relationship with Pettey when he was planning to kill his fiance Sandy Fugate. Kirk admitted she knew about Fugate's pending shooting death, but didn't tell anyone. She also admitted to destroying the gun and Pettey's clothes after Fugate was found shot and killed when she was called to the stand at Pettey's trial. But since Kirk has plead not guilty to the charges she admitted to in June, a jury will have to be convinced.
"Are you Rebecca Jeanne Kirk," the judge said
"I am," Kirk replied.
Kunza Mennemeyer did not read Kirk her charges since she signed an arraignment form explaining the felonies against her. It was a quick visit with no questions asked, all of the dates were agreed and decided upon ahead of time.
Kirk's trial is scheduled to take place Thursday, July 18 at the Pike County Courthouse in Bowling Green. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for June 25 where final motions will be heard before the July trial.
