Alpha Mae (Tuley) Greening, 93, of Woodbridge, Va., formerly of Mission, Texas and Palmyra, Mo., passed away Saturday March 23, 2013, at the Sentara Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. Alpha Mae was born August 11, 1919, in Monroe City, Missouri, to Corder Everett and Marvel Louise Delashmutt Greening. Alpha Mae was married to Glendel T. Greening August 22, 1937, at the Monroe City United Methodist Church by Rev. E.H. Farmer. He preceded her in death October 24, 2004.
Survivors include, sons: James E. (Elaine) Greening of Woodbridge, VA, and Thomas G. Greening of Dededo, Guam; and grandchildren: Timothy E. (Lisa) Greening of Leesburg, VA, Tamara S. (Patrick) Creel of Fredericksburg, VA, Aaron (Christie) Greening of Atascadero, CA, Amanda (Travis) Ferrie’ of Atascadero, CA, and Amber Greening of Logan, UT. Also surviving great grandchildren: Jessica (Russell) Carpenter, Catlin Wheeler, Max Greening, Lila Greening, Melissa Greening, Jacob Dowless and Gabrielle Ferrie’; brother, Franklin (Edna) Tuley of Palmyra; and sister, Virginia Dickerson of Ocala, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Glenda Lee Greening on December 3, 1945; brothers, Jack, Walter, Edgar Lee and Everett Ray Tuley; and sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Angie Beatrice Tuley.
Mrs. Greening was a homemaker. She had formerly worked as a cashier at both C&R Grocery Store and Owsley’s Pharmacy both in Palmyra. Later, she and Glendel moved to Mission, Texas in 1979.
Mrs. Greening was a 1937 graduate of Palmyra High School. She was a former member of the First United Church of Mission, TX and the Palmyra United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Missouri. Rev. Eric Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Palmyra United Methodist Church.
