  • John King, “JB” was released from his temporary suffering to his eternal life at 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Willow Care Center, in Hannibal, Missouri.
    There will be no visitation or services at this time. His ashes will be returned to California for a family memorial at a later date.
    The James O’Donnell Funeral Home of Hannibal, MO is serving the family.
    J.B. was born in Checotah, OK on May 18, 1922, to John Burton and Stella Graves King.
    He left school after his freshman year to work in the CCC for two years, then returned to graduate at the age of 19.
    He married  Muriel Seiber on September 5th, 1942.  She preceded him in death in 2011.
    Surviving him are four children: Kay Ellison (Terry) of Hannibal; Jerry King (Deb) of Vancouver, BC; Mike King (Mary) of Chico, CA; Steve King (Helen) of Modesto, CA.  Other survivors include seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
    John was in the United States Army during World War II.  After his discharge in 1946 he worked for a carpet company as a buyer and a sales person until 1955 in Tulsa, OK. Then he ran the office for a steel construction company in Stockton, CA for over 20 years. His last job was in maintenance with the water district of Calaveras County, CA. He and Muriel moved to Hannibal in 2002.
    John enjoyed gardening, and was a master at growing tomatoes. He enjoyed vigorous health and was living independently until the last 2 months of his life. He was a friendly, inquisitive, articulate gentleman.
    He was a member of the Clover Road Christian Church.
    Memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter or the charity of your choice in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the loving care that was given to J.B. at Blessing Hospital, Hannibal Regional Hospital, Willow Care Center and Blessing Home Care.
