A “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans” celebration is being planned for Saturday, March 30, at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center located at Mark Twain Lake.
The grounds will open at 9 a.m. with a hospitality tent available for all Veterans to come to share stories and memories. At 1 p.m. there will be a presentation of the colors by the American Legion Post 510 of Laddonia, American Legion Post 55 of Hannibal and VFW 3772 of Mexico, followed by the playing of Taps by VFW Post 4088 of Perry. At 1:30 p.m. the Missouri Military Academy Fusileers of Mexico, will present a drill team performance. Following that will be the re-enactment of the Bob Hope Vietnam Show at 2 p.m.
VA officials will also be on hand in order to provide assistance to veterans needing help with paperwork. A display titled “Missourians in the Vietnam War,” on temporary loan from the Museum of Missouri Military History in Jefferson City, will be located inside the Visitor Center. Lunch will be available as well as activities for the entire family.
