  • Betty Jean Rethorn O’Hearn, 87, of San Antonio, TX and formerly of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal. Father Nicholas Reid will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in  Hannibal.
    Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday with Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
    Mrs. O’Hearn was born August 24, 1925, in Brookfield, Missouri, to John Otto and Elizabeth Raisch Rethorn.
    She was married to Richard E. O’Hearn on June 10, 1946, in Hannibal, MO, by Rev. Charles Fox.
    Survivors include 7 children; 2 daughters, Teresa Jeanmarie O’Hearn (Pat O’Brien) of San Antonio, TX, and Annamarie Helene’ Pentz (Robert) of Sinking Spring, PA; her deceased son’s wife, Susan O’Hearn of Orlando, FL; 5 sons: Richard Joseph O’Hearn (Bernice) of Pine Grove, IN, Christopher Paul O’Hearn (Mary Jane) of Howell, NJ, Stephen Gregory O’Hearn of Cuba, MO,  Sean Frances O’Hearn of  Baltimore, Maryland, and Mark Rethorn O’Hearn of Hannibal, MO; grandchildren: Caryn O’Hearn Leonhardt, Seamus O’Hearn, Heather O’Hearn, Kathleen O’Hearn, Jennifer Matthews, Christopher R. O’Hearn, Timothy O’Hearn, Thomas F. O’Hearn, John Michael Floyd, Patrick Ryan Floyd, Jessica Remp, Stephanie Pentz, and Brittany Pentz; 3 great grandchildren: Devin Pentz-Lopez, Conner Remp and Mya Remp; 1 sister, Doris Horner (Dale) of Hannibal, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Edmund O’Hearn; 2 sons, Sean Gerard O’Hearn and Thomas Charles O’Hearn; 1 brother, John Rethorn; and 1 sister in law, Connie Rethorn.
    Mrs. O’Hearn was raised in Missouri and graduated from Hannibal High School “Class of 1943.” Betty was a member of  Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX and formerly a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working for her church. She liked sewing, needle work, cooking, baking and reading and she enjoyed her grandchildren.  
    Pallbearers will be Caryn O’Hearn Leonhardt, Seamus O’Hearn, Heather O’Hearn, Kathleen O’Hearn, Jennifer Matthews, Christopher R. O’Hearn and John Michael Floyd.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
