James R. Yates, 97, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.
There will be no services. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Yates was born October 9, 1915, in Brookville, Pennsylvania, to George and Margaret Robertson Yates.
He was married to Marion Gerlach. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Sally McBride of Hannibal, Mo.; two grandchildren, Amanda Brown (Dwayne) and Seth McBride (Kayla); and one great-grandchild, Logan.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Yates was a United States Navy Veteran. He served his country during World War II.
Mr. Yates retired after 41 years from the accounting department at Talon Division of Textron Inc. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball and Pittsburgh Steelers Football fan. Mr. Yates enjoyed golfing and was a life member of the Elks Lodge. He was a Protestant by faith.
