For the love of pie, a celebration on Thursday, March 14 (3.14), in honor of National Pi (π) Day is planned by merchants in Hannibal. Pi(e) π Day originated in 2009 when the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution designating March 14 as Pi Day, commemorating the mathematical constant π. According to Gail Bryant, director of the Hannibal Convention & Visitors Bureau, area Hannibal businesses plan to celebrate the day’s namesake by offering specials and deals.
Bryant says that special offers of participating businesses are listed on the HCVB’s Web site. Bryant reports that many restaurants will be offering “pie” deals on March 14. She noted that “Pi Day” deals will also be offered by banks and jewelry stores
