Vernetta M. Ehret, 84, of New London, Missouri, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Victor Keefe will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Louisiana, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ehret was born August 30, 1928, in Winfield, Missouri, to Hugh Roger and Maudie Mae Elston Miller.
She was married to Walter Fred Ehret on April 5, 1947, in Hannibal Missouri by Brother John Golden. Her husband, Walter Fred Ehret, survives.
Other survivors include 4 children, W. Wayne Ehret (Joyce) of New London, MO, N. Dean Ehret (Donna) of New London, MO, Chuck E. Ehret (Debbie) of Hannibal, MO, and Mary Lynn Taylor (Jere) of Canton, MO; 1 sister, Wanda Miller of Knox City, MO; grandchildren, Dwayne Ehret, Endy Ehret, Sara Ehret, Allison Ehret, Joe Ehret, Brandy Ehret, Heath Ehret, Lezlie Taylor, Hollie Taylor, and Aron Taylor; and 2 step grandchildren, Bryce and Seth Harvey.
She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant granddaughter.
Mrs. Ehret was a homemaker for many years. Professionally she retired from Willow Care Center in Hannibal. She also had previously worked at the Western Printing Company in Hannibal. Prior to that Mrs. Ehret was a teacher and taught in a one-room school house in Busch, Missouri. Mrs. Ehret loved to play the piano and played for many years at the churches she attended. Mrs. Ehret enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. She attended Salt River Christian Church, Freedom Bible Church, Hannibal Free Methodist Church and Ashburn Free Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pike County Hospice in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Ehret, Joe Ehret, Heath Ehret, Sara Ehret, Lezlie Taylor and Bryce Harvey.
