Othar Mayfield, Jr., 84, of Hannibal, died at 9:22 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Jack Emmite will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Mayfield, Jr., was born November 5, 1928, in Lesterville, MO, to Othar and Viola Mayfield, Sr.
He was married to Nellie C. Charlton on July 8, 1951, in Hannibal, MO. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Gary (Jenny) Mayfield, Sr. of Carrollton, TX; Sheila Harmon of Huntsville, MO; Brenda (Jack) Luffman of Troy, MO; and Lora (Dale) Hemme of New London, MO; grandchildren: Gary (Stacy) Mayfield, Jr.; Cathy (Josh) Harmon; D. J. (Jessica) Wisdom; Ryan (Pamela) Hemme; Regan Hemme; and Brooke (Brandon) Wisdom; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Mayfield, Alli Mayfield, Kaydense Wisdom, and Aubrie Trachsel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked as a mill operator at the J. M. Huber Corp. in Quincy, IL, for many years before retiring in 1993. He loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Mayfield’s grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren.
