  • Stan Foster was one of countless people in Hannibal who could be found digging out his vehicle Friday morning. What made Foster unique is the fact he was not cursing Mother Nature with every shovel of snow.
“I like it. It’s a change of pace,” said Foster, who lives on the third floor of the building located at South Main Street and Broadway.
Foster took up residence in town just two-and-a-half weeks ago, relocating from Arizona where he did subcontractor work for Homeland Security.
“It was 74 degrees when I left,” he said with a smile.
Although a native of America’s Hometown, Foster moved away when he was just 14 years old.
“I hadn’t seen winter in forever. I thought I’d check it out,” he said, pausing to lean on his snow shovel for a few moments.
Don’t look for Foster to be putting down permanent roots in Hannibal.
“I’ll probably be here four months a year. This is probably the worst time to be here,” he laughed.
Thursday’s heavy snow didn’t leave Foster second-guessing his decision to move back.
“You’ve got to enjoy where you’re at and I’m enjoying it. I want to do this,” he said, returning to his shoveling. “If you went to a gym, you’d have to pay for this type of exercise.”
