  • Betty G. McGee, 85, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

  • Betty G. McGee, 85, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.
    Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Walter Griffen will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
    Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services, Saturday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
    Mrs. McGee was born February 27, 1927, in Oakwood, MO to Joe and Neva Ethyl Howard Griffen.
    She was married to Arthur Lee McGee Sr. on June 20, 1948, in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death February 16, 2007.
    Survivors include 4 children: Arthur Lee McGee Jr., Elizabeth Lynne Tutor, Carol Luann McGee, Darren Lyle McGee; 2 Brothers: W. Arthur Griffen (Dorothy) of Reno, NV; Danny Joe Griffen of Hannibal, MO; 9 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters: Helen Fritzemeyer, Doris "Dodie" Turner, and her sister-in-law, LeVon Griffen.
    Mrs. McGee was a graduate of Hannibal High School and she attended Hannibal LaGrange College. She worked for Klene Printing and Ralls County Head Start. Betty later worked as a secretary for Oakwood School and First United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, where she was president of the United Methodist Women Group for two years. Mrs. McGee was also a Sunday School Teacher for the elementary grades for over 40 years at First United Methodist Church. She was the president of the Mary Magdalene Class for several years and she served as president for the GFWC Women's Club of Oakwood from 1961-1963. Mrs. McGee also helped her husband with the Boy Scouts in the Hannibal area for many years.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Haven Nursing Home or Avenues Shelter in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers will be Austin McGee, Adam Simmons, Rich Griffen, Joe Griffen, Doug Merrell and Nathan McGee.
