  • Culver-Stockton College is hosting and proctoring an official America Mathematics Competition for local high school students to test their skills against those of students across the nation.
    C-SC is hosting two levels of the high school test, the AMC 10 and the AMC 12, during an all day event Wednesday, Feb. 20. The AMC 10 and 12 are both 75-minute exams consisting of 25 multiple choice questions covering secondary school mathematics and pre-calculus concepts.
    The AMC 10 is open to students under 17.5 years of age and not yet enrolled in grades 11 or 12, while the AMC 12 is open to students under 19.5 years of age in a program leading to a high school diploma.
    AMC 12 students who rank in the top five percent nationally, or score at least 100 out of 150 points, will qualify for the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME). AMC 10 students who rank in the top two and half percent nationally, or score at least 120 out of 150 points, will also qualify for the AIME.
    Among the schools participating will be Marion County.
