87, of Hannibal

John Edward Douglas, 87, of Hannibal, died at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at his home.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Randy Drish will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Wednesday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Inurnment, with full military rites provided by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55, will be at Grand View Burial Park
Mr. Douglas was born September 24, 1925, in San Francisco, California to Lowell G. Funk and Emma Bernice Fedder Funk.
He was married to Marilyn Ann Capps, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving companion, Elizabeth Lock Scarborough, Hannibal, MO and her children: Jan Orendain of Frisco, TX, David Dodd of Garland, TX, and Dan Dodd of Katy, TX;  Step-sons: Stephen Resa, Hannibal, MO, and Michael (Kathy) Resa, Sandia, TX;  Granddaughter, Amanda Resa; Great-grandchildren: Drake Richardson, Blake Richardson and Keri Ann Earle.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He was a news caster for KHMO Radio in Hannibal for many years. John was Catholic by faith but had attended the Park United Methodist Church in Hannibal.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during WW II. He was an avid golfer and was active in the Hannibal Community Theater, directing and acting in several plays. He did some photography for local newspapers and he enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He loved garage sales, reading and studying, writing, and animals and pets.
