A man sought in connection with a shooting last week in Hannibal has been taken into custody in Mexico, Mo.

According to the Hannibal Police Department, HPD detectives arrested Martez D. Peete of Hannibal at approximately 2 p.m. Monday at a residence in Mexico, Mo., where he was reportedly hiding in an attic. According to HPD, the 25-year-old Peete was arrested without incident.

Peete was taken to the Marion County Jail and booked for parole violation. He also was being held on a 24-hour hold pending warrants from the shooting.

Peete’s arrest stems from a Jan. 28 shooting in the 400 block of N. Arch in Hannibal where a 38-year-old man was shot twice. The victim’s wounds were not life threatening.
