The Hannibal Community Theatre is presenting an old-time traveling theatre production, Henning Nelms’ “Only an Orphan Girl,” by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
Performances began at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, and will continue at 7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 2, at St. John’s Lutheran School gymnasium.
A matinee performance is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.
Additional 7:30 p.m. performances will be on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8 and Feb. 9, at the school.
The play is being directed by Jim Dewey. He described it as old-fashioned melodrama with plenty of opportunities to boo the villain, cheer the hero, laugh, sing and play along.
Special musical performances are planned by the Mississippi Mud Daubers Barbershop Quartet, Sam Walker and her Penny Whistle, a banjo playing preacher and more musicians.
Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for children age 12 and under.
