3rd annual Polar Plunge takes place Saturday.
Three event highlights
This is a fund-raising event for Special Olympics. The plunge is staged in cooperation with the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department. A record 86 people took the plunge in 2012.
Over $9,500 was raised in 2012. Last year's top fund-raising individual was Nicole Martin. The Icealicious Ice Bombs raised the most money as a team.
While many people have already signed up, it's not too late to take part. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. The donation required in order to plunge is $75.
Why you should attend
"It's a fund-raiser for Special Olympics so we really want to encourage people to come out. The Special Olympics participants will be there so they have a fun time watching."
- Mary Lynne Richards, assistant supervisor for promotion and planning, Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department.
