Robert J. Wesbecher, 82, of Hannibal, Mo., died at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely, Mo. Pastor Kenneth Schamber will officiate. Burial with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in West Ely, Mo.
The James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Wesbecher was born July 2, 1930, in Walsh, Ill. to John and Rosa Schneider Wesbecher.
He was married to Fern Hartenberger on August 2, 1952, in Chester, Ill. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Pamela Ginsberg (Michael) of Hannibal, Mo.; three grandchildren: Jacob Wesbecher, Laura Ginsberg Judlowe (Lucas) and Emma Ginsberg; and one great-grandchild, Hazel Judlowe.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Wesbecher; and four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Wesbecher was a United States Air Force Veteran. He served in the Korean War and in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Wesbecher taught in computer technology in several places.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Mr. Wesbecher was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a member of Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 and a lifetime member of the VFW. He attended West Ely Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Parking Lot Fund or the donor’s choice, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ginsberg, Jacob Wesbecher, Steve Rahlfs, Ronnie Wesbecher, Donnie Wesbecher and Lucas Judlowe.
