  • A second suspect has been taken into custody for her alleged involvement in Thursday afternoon's robbery of the Community State Bank in Clarence.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, approximately an hour-and-a-half after the robbery took place Savanna J. Barger, 26, of Atlanta, was arrested for her alleged involvement in the robbery.
The robbery happened at 1:45 p.m. when a white man wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene on foot. A citizen saw a man matching the description of the suspect enter a blue Pontiac, which was parked in a nearby parking lot. The citizen followed the vehicle as it left Clarence onto Shelby County roads just northeast of Clarence, and notified law enforcement officers of the man's actions.
Law enforcement officers found the abandoned blue Pontiac on a county road approximately 1.5 miles northeast of Clarence. At 2:50 p.m. a patrol canine located the man, Cody A. Barber, 26, of Moulton, Iowa. He was taken custody by law enforcement officers. At 3:10 p.m., approximately 20 minutes after Barber's arrest, Barger was taken into custody.
Barber has been charged with robbery in the first degree, armed criminal action, possession of stolen property, and unlawful use of a weapon. Barger was arrested for felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery and a Macon County warrant for failing to appear on traffic charges. She was taken to the Macon County Jail pending issuance of a warrant.
Sgt. Brent Bernhardt, communications officer for Troop B of the highway patrol, declined to discuss her relationship with Barber.
"It's inappropriate for me to say anything more," he said.
Regarding Barger's arrest, Bernhardt did say she was "not near the scene" when she was arrested.
According to a media release issued by the highway patrol Friday, an investigation involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Shelby County Sheriff's Department and highway patrol is ongoing.
