Dorothy passed away in her sleep on January 1, 2013, after a short illness.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; daughter, Michele McKenna Scott, and her husband Steve Scott. She also leaves her very close grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Scott. All reside in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her son, Scott McKenna, of Austin, Texas.
Dorothy was the daughter of Frank and Gertrude Putzlocker of Plum Boro, PA. Her sister, Nancy Brooks of Loveland, CO also survives.
Dorothy was a stay at home Mom for her family. She moved to different states with her husband and children but always joined in the local activities to meet new people.
While living in Hannibal, MO, from 1967 to 1979, she was active in the community. She became a fan of Mark Twain and his life in Hannibal. Dot was a docent, giving tours of the historical area of downtown Hannibal . She started volunteering four hours a week in the gift shop at Levering Hospital, and went on to represent all hospital volunteers at the annual meetings in Branson and Springfield, MO. She was elected as president of the Missouri State Hospital volunteer workers.
Dorothy loved to play bridge and was involved with the Newcomers Club. She was also a happy bowler for 64 years.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Shadow Mountain Mortuary on E. Greenway Road in Phoenix. Interment will be in the National Military Cemetery, close to her son, Scott.
