  • Western Catholic Union President Mark Wiewel has helped raised more than $23,000 with his annual Bike For Food charity ride, but says there’s still a great need to help our local food pantries.

  • Western Catholic Union President Mark Wiewel has helped raised more than $23,000 with his annual Bike For Food charity ride, but says there’s still a great need to help our local food pantries.
    On Wednesday, Wiewel announced that his annual bike ride through Illinois raised $23,053 for 10 area food pantries. Western Catholic Union matched donations up to $500 for each pantry.
    Total amounts raised by each pantry, including WCU’s contributions are: $2,075, Canton Council of Churches in Canton; $1,425, Douglas Community Center in Hannibal; $2,041, Palmyra Food Pantry in Palmyra; $1,055, Horizons Social Services in Quincy; $2,700, Ladies of Charity in Quincy, $1,500, Madonna House in Quincy; $1,192, Quanada in Quincy; $3,762, Quincy Catholic Charities; $6,805, St. Francis Food Pantry in Quincy; $498, Quincy Salvation Army.
