There will be two contested races when the next municipal election in Hannibal takes place in April of this year. Tuesday’s filing deadline arrived at 5 p.m. without any additional candidates filing.
Three individuals are seeking the position of mayor. Incumbent Roy Hark, who is seeking a fifth term as mayor, will be joined on the ballot by challengers Monica Williams, who only signed up to run on Monday, and Lou Barta, former Third Ward councilman
The other race is in Ward 2 where incumbent Michael Dobson will be opposed by Jennifer Foster.
James Locke in the Sixth Ward and Fourth Ward incumbent, Barry Louderman, will run unopposed.
Locke is now guaranteed the opportunity to serve the remainder of the unexpired term of Dr. Richard Draper, who because of work conflicts resigned from the Council on Oct. 30. A year will remain on the Sixth Ward term following next April’s municipal election.
The term for mayor and the Fourth and Second Ward Council spots are for three years.
