  • A Hannibal man faces an assortment of charges following a traffic stop early Saturday.
According to Hannibal police, at 12:44 a.m. Saturday an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for driving erratically and possibly driving under the influence. The vehicle initially stopped, but before the officer could make contact, the driver drove off. The driver was seen throwing items from the vehicle and made several turns in an attempt to evade the officer, but eventually stopped.
The driver, 39 year old James J. Ryan, of Hannibal, was arrested without incident. Upon searching Ryan after his arrest, a substance, believed to be methamphetamine, was located on him. Officers also recovered the items thrown from the vehicle and discovered they were items commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
Ryan was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, manufacturing of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
Ryan was placed on a 24-hour hold in the Marion County Jail pending warrants.
