Trailing 34-23 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Mark Twain boys’ basketball team used a 25-14 run in the final eight minutes of the regulation to tie the game and force overtime. Once in OT, the Tigers outscored the Panthers 8-5 in the extra four minutes of play to shock Monroe City and pull of a 56-53 come from behind win.

Mark Twain had two players finish the night in double figures. Garrett Jarman turned in 20 points on the night while Alex Jernigan finished with 15 for the Tigers. Jarman also led Mark Twain with five rebounds while Austin Epperson and Ethan Clark both pulled down four boards.

The Monroe City boys’ will next be on the court Monday night at the 70th Annual Tony Lenzini Tournament in Palmyra. The Panthers will play top seeded Canton at 6 p.m. Mark Twain will play a make up agme with Clopton today and then head to Palmyra on Tuesday where the Tigers will play tournament host Palmyra.
