  • The city of Clarksville will receive $59,544 in federal transportation enhancement funds for sidewalk improvements along Missouri 79. This project is one of six funded through the federal enhancement program that provided a little over $1.4 million in dedicated funds to MoDOT’s Northeast District. Projects including the construction of sidewalks, trails and bike lanes, streetscaping, ADA improvement to existing sidewalks and other local projects that enhance transportation compete for these funds through an application process.
The Route 79 Sidewalk Project involves replacing dilapidated sections of the existing sidewalk on the east side of Missouri 79 from Washington to Main Cross, and from Virginia to Smith Street with ADA compliant sidewalks and intersection crossings. The project also includes the improvements to the sidewalk and hand railing at Town Branch.
The city of Clarksville will be sharing in a percentage of the project cost.
