Frost blamed for accident

A Monroe City woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Ralls County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the mishap happened at 8:20 a.m. on eastbound U.S. 36 two miles east of Monroe City.

A 2004 Chevrolet Impala operated by 58-year-old Patricia J. Swon of Monroe City began to slide on the frost-covered highway and slid into the trailer of a 1997 Freightliner driven by John E. Hernandez-Corea, 34, of Kansas City, Kan.

Swon, who was wearing a safety device, was taken by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.
