Charles “Raymond” Otten Sr., 82, of Hannibal, Missouri, died at 1:41 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Otten Sr. was born August 8, 1930, in Palmyra, Missouri to Frank W. and Jessie M. Roach Otten.
He was previously married to Willa M. Terrill and she survives. He later married Reba F. Coons on June 24, 1956, in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include 4 children: Connie M. Wiley (David) of Palmyra, MO; Rhonda Otten (Mike) of Hannibal, MO; Charles “Chuck” R. Otten II (Lisa) of Hannibal, MO, and Joshua Otten; 1 special granddaughter, Lyndsey Pafford, and 11 additional grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Charla Otten Murphy; 1 brother, Marion F. Otten; and 3 great grandchildren: Kaylee Pafford, Reagan & Abigail Ward.
Mr. Otten was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He worked as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Otten liked fishing and camping, Mr. Otten enjoyed watching baseball and listening to country music. He was a Christian by faith.
Memorials may be made to the James O’Donnell Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral and burial expenses.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Otten, Jeffery Otten, Jarred Patton, Neal Wiley, Dylan O’Brien, and Tristan Ward.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard & Sheila Kaylor, Kenny Kaylor, Billy Ray Coons, and Bob Otten.
