  • Four area teen-agers and five people total were injured in a Wednesday night crash just west of Hannibal in Marion County.

  • Four area teen-agers and five people total were injured in a Wednesday night crash just west of Hannibal in Marion County.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident happened at 8:40 p.m. on Highway MM at Veterans Road.
    A 2007 Pontiac G6 was reportedly being driven south on Veterans Road by Chelisa A. Deere, 16, of Hannibal. When the Pontiac failed to stop at a stop sign it was struck by an eastbound 1997 Dodge Ram operated by Rickey J. Thomas, 53, of New London.
    Both Deere and Thomas were injured in the mishap. Deere, who was wearing a safety device, was left with minor injuries. Thomas’ injuries were described as moderate. According to the accident report Thomas was not wearing a safety device. Both Thomas and Deere were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital by Marion County Ambulance.
    Three occupants in the vehicle operated by Deere were also injured - Trenton E. Forster, 14, of Hannibal; Makenzie R. Morris, 15, of Hannibal; and Jacob T. York, 13, of Hannibal. York’s injuries were described as moderate while Morris and York were left with minor injuries. According to the incident report Forster and York were not wearing safety devices while Morris was.
    Forster and York were taken by private vehicles to Hannibal Regional Hospital. Morris was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
