Clarence Ray Thurman Jr., 65, of New London, MO, died at 9:27 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Richard Epperson will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Ray was born on June 4, 1947, in Hannibal, MO, to Ray and Mabel McAdams Thurman Sr. They preceded him in death.
Also preceding Ray in death were his grandparents: Lula “Mom” Webber, and Newton and Maude Thurman, and his close friend, George Wheeler.
Survivors include: Special cousins: Iva Jane Wheeler, Mary Ann Eckley (Joe) and J. D. St. Clair, and numerous other cousins.
Ray was a 1965 graduate of Mark Twain High School in Ralls, County, MO. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was a veteran of the United States Army. He had previously worked at Valley Steel in Louisiana, MO and farmed. Ray was baptized in June of 1958 at Salt River Christian Church, where he was a member.
Pallbearers will be Ronny Calvin, Kyle Ford, Darrell Taylor, William Peterson, Philip Briscoe, and Dwayne Ehret.
Memorials may be made to the James Cary Cancer Center in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
