The Mark Twain boys’ basketball team beat Paris Tuesday night 52-41.
The Tigers doubled up Paris 16-8 in the first eight minutes of play to set the tone early.
In the second quarter, Paris matched Mark Twain point for point as the two teams went into the break with the Tigers leading 28-20.
In the second half, Mark Twain limited Paris to just five points while the Tigers scored 11 to extend their lead. Heading into the fourth quarter, Mark Twain held a 39-25 lead.
Paris finally outscored Mark Twain in the fourth quarter, putting up 16 points and limiting the Tigers to 13, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit.
The majority of Mark Twain’s scoring came from Ethan Anderson. Anderson was the only Tiger to record double figure scoring as he finished the night with 26 points. Anderson also led the Tigers with 4 assists.
Austin Epperson led the Tigers on the backboard as he pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds while Garrett Jarman finished with 3 blocked shots. Alex Jernigan, Jarman and Anderson all finished with a pair of steals for Mark Twain.
With the win, Mark Twain improves to 3-5 on the season. The Tigers will return to the court on Friday with their final game before the Christmas break against Clopton.
