64, of Palmyra
Keil Burwinkle, 64, of Palmyra, Mo. died at 9:08 a.m. Sunday at Hannibal Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Quincy, Ill. to Herbert W. and Velma Louise Keil Burwinkle. Keil married Sharon Owsley Feb. 11, 1968, at First Baptist Church in Palmyra, Mo.
Keil is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Andy (Robyn)Burwinkle; daughter, Jenny Burwinkle; grandchildren:Kaleb, Sydney, and Kody Burwinkle, all of Palmyra; brothers (in-law), Michael Pontius of Palmyra and Gary (Bev) Owsley of Lebanon, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Marcia Pontius.
Keil retired in 2010 after 40 years of service at Lovegreen Motor Company in Palmyra. He was a 1966 graduate of Palmyra High School and he served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968.
Keil umpired and coached softball and baseball for many years. He was past President of the Palmyra Park Board and devoted many hours to improving Flower City park. He was past President of Palmyra Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the Boots-Dickson Post # 174 of the American Legion. He loved being outdoors and in the woods and spending time at the ranch near Emerson.
A Service of Remembrance will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Rev. Terry M. Buster will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Flower City Park, Palmyra.
