Marvin H. Rayl, 88, of Monroe City, Missouri, died at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Charles Grubb will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Rayl was born November 6, 1924, in Williamstown, Missouri to Frank Elin and Hazel Lynn Hamilton Rayl.
He was married to Patsy Ruth Brothers on June 9, 1959, in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death March 6, 2012.
Survivors include 4 children: Susan Russell, Jaudon Epley, Scot Rayl and Lauretta Counts, 1 brother: Vernon Rayl, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by 3 brothers: Kenny, Carrol and Bob Rayl and 1 grandson, Patrick Epley.
Mr. Rayl was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served in the Philippines during World War II. Mr. Rayl worked for 24 years in quality control at Motorola in Quincy, IL. He retired as a meat cutter from the William Underwood Company in Hannibal. Mr. Rayl loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching the birds. He also liked gardening and woodworking. Mr. Rayl was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Baptist Church in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Lance Brown, Jack Ledbetter, Josh Hathaway, Corey Epley, Mark Russell, Bill Brothers, and Wayne Brothers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Rayl’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
