  • Children dressed as their favorite super-hero or princess posed for pictures with teen-aged princesses and Santa Claus on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Hannibal Arts Council during the Families and Communities Together (FACT) Christmas Princess and Super-Hero Tea Party.
The youngest child was 1-week-old William Zanger, accompanied by his mother, Katherine Zanger, and 2-year-old brother, Dominic, who slept through the party.
In addition to posing for pictures, the children made artistic crafts and were served healthful treats by FACT personnel and volunteers.
Some of the foods may later be featured in FACT cooking classes for families, according to Sandy Caswell, FACT assistant director.
"Hannibal Clinic Health Services gave us a grant, and we will be doing healthy cooking classes for families," Caswell said. Details about this program will be announced later and posted on mcfact.org on the Facebook page.
Among the healthful treats served at the tea was a "banana split bite" made of a piece of banana dipped in chocolate, with other flavors added. Grapes on a stick also proved popular.
The boys present were superheroes such as "Superman" 1-year-old Landon Nielsen; "Spiderman" Caleb Hammontree, 3; and "Batman" Brayden Edwards, 4.
Many little girls were dressed as Cinderella, Snow White or another fairy tale princess, such as 3-year-old "Cinderella" Kennedi Roe, who had especially enjoyed seeing the older princesses and posing for pictures with them.
Another 3-year-old princess, Grace LaFond, was so excited she was jumping up and down.
The teen-aged princesses she was excited to meet were "Belle" Rachel Davis, "Cinderella" Morgan Bross; "Ariel" Julie Colborn and "Snow White" Erin Sublette.
