Thank you, Hannibal. The Legion Thanksgiving dinner was the most successfully organized to date, and that is due to all the great volunteers.
American Legion Post 55 invited the people of Hannibal and surrounding areas to join us in our free-will Thanksgiving meal. Thanks to all who volunteered, this was the largest and best dinner to date. This year, Post 55 and its dedicated volunteers helped to serve and deliver way over 600 meals.
Our volunteers included Post members, Auxiliary, Riders, SAL and 55 volunteers from the local community.
Victoria Ornelas, Auxiliary member, organized and condensed the delivery routes to be very workable routes, 17 delivery volunteers delivered close to 330 meals in less than two hours.
Thanks to Lyle Todd, Bob Burditt, John Bell, Shirley O’Keefe, Jim Barnes and Benny Dodd Jr., for preparing the turkeys.
A big thank you to Chuck and Sharon Houston and their large crew in the kitchen; they did a tremendous job. Many compliments were made about the taste and quality of the meal.
It was truly a great team effort. It was truly a day to be thankful for. A big thanks to everyone who made donations.
More than 27 turkeys were donated. Thanks to all or area businesses and individuals for their time and food items. A special thank you to trustee Tammy Harr, and the Harr family for all their hard work in setting up and decorating the hall. It was again a masterpiece.
We couldn’t have done it without all of you. Over 360 volunteer hours were worked for this event. Thank you, Hannibal.
