Dee B. Creech, 88, of Hannibal, Missouri (formerly of Monroe City, Missouri) passed away 10:03 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, Missouri.
He was born July 26, 1924, in Troy, Missouri, the son of Charles W. and Viola M. Creech. He was a graduate of Buchanan High School, Troy, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. After returning home from the war, Dee and his wife Mary moved to Monroe City in 1946 to make their home. He worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as a Insurance Agent for more than 33 years in the Monroe City area. He was a member of the Monroe City United Methodist Church. Dee was a 50 year Mason, he was a member of the Monroe City Missouri Masonic Lodge #64. He was also a member of the Lions Club, and an original founding member of the South Side Bridge Club.
He enjoyed “coaching” the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team from his living room. Dee also loved quail hunting, fishing and raising tomatoes from his garden. He married Mary B. Withrow March 20, 1945, in Troy, Missouri, she survives of the home. Also surviving is one daughter, Sherri Steinman and husband Dan, Hannibal, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Lafe Creech.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Monroe City United Methodist Church, Monroe City, Rev. Olivia Earlywine and Rev. Clayton Peak officiating. Burial from the Troy City Cemetery, Troy, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday with a Masonic Service starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Baecker, Kent Cheek, Jim Woodwall, Darrel McKay, Randy Potterfield, Oscar Hernandez and Orville Minter. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Paris, Harold Garner, Jim Evans, Maurice Stille, Mike Tuley, Bill Zillion and Allen Wilson. Memorials have been suggested to the Monroe City United Methodist Church.
