    Ollie Lee Pennewell Jr., of rural Monroe City, passed away at his home on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 9:45 a.m. He was surrounded by his family. He was born at home in rural Palmyra, Mo., on June 6, 1929, to Elizabeth and Ollie Pennewell Sr. They preceded him in death.
    He is survived by Shirley Utterback Pennewell, his wife of 57 years. Other survivors include five children, Butch (Missy) Pennewell of Monroe City, Sharon (Greg) Shively of Hunnewell, Joy Pennewell of Auxvasse, Roger (Daphne) Pennewell of Monroe City, and Kevin (Mia) Pennewell of Palmyra; 15 grandchildren, Katie, Mitchell, Olivia and Nolan Pennewell, Joseph, (Nancy) David and Samantha Shively, Melissa (Alex) Threlkeld, Chase, Cole, Caden and Ceaton Pennewell, Bridget and Hope Hudson, and Evan Pennewell. He also had three great-grandchildren, Natalie and Caitlin Shively and Cale Threlkeld. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Ulry of Palmyra, and a brother, Gene (Emma) Pennewell of New  London; and six nieces.
    He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Kay Pennewell, and grandsons, Park and William Pennewell; and, also, by a sister, Ellen Pennewell of Palmyra.
    Ollie was a grain and livestock farmer. He served in the Marine Corp., during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, attending farm auctions. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.
    Services will be held at Garner Funeral Home in Monroe City. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, for family, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for other friends and loved ones. The Reverend Chris Combs will officiate at the service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. Burial and graveside services will follow at Providence Baptist Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be Kevin Pennewell (son) and grandchildren, Mitchell, Nolan, Chase and Cole Pennewell, and Joseph and David Shively. Honorary Pallbearers will be all other grandchildren.
    Memorials may be made to the Providence Cemetery Association or the Providence Baptist Church.
