The Hannibal freshmen boys’ basketball team dropped its second game in as many nights Tuesday with a 57-39 loss to Quincy Notre Dame.
During the first half of play, Hannibal trailed but kept the score close as the Raiders took a 33-22 lead into the break.
Hannibal (0-2) outscored QND 13-12 in the third quarter, but the Raiders put the game away with a 12-4 run in the fourth quarter.
Luke Anderson finished with 21 points to lead the Pirates in scoring. Phillip Dauma scored 6 points while Jack Baughman and Vincent Elder each chipped in 4 points for Hannibal.
The Pirates will return to Mexico tonight where they are playing in the Mexico Tournament. Hannibal will be playing either Mexico or Fulton with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

HMS 8th grade tops Kirksville
The Hannibal Middle School eighth grade girls’ basketball team beat Kirksville 32-26 Tuesday night. Jada Humprey led the Jr. Lady Pirates in scoring with 16 points while Avery Sanders chipped in 10 points. Emily Albright scored 6 points for Hannibal.
The Lady Pirates will be off until Saturday, Dec. 1, when Hannibal travels to Lewis and Clark Middle School for an 11 a.m. tipoff.

The Hannibal Middle School wrestling team had its home opener Tuesday night at Korf Gymnasium. The Jr. Pirates hosted Mexico and Troy in the tri-meet.
Four members of the Pirates won two matches each. Hannibal’s two match winners were Clayton White, Sean Carroll, Chase Hawes, and Marie Freeman.
Single match winners for the Jr. Pirates were Gavin Scott, Kaleb Greening, Billy Smashey, Braden Adkins, Austin Coleman, Dalton Huffman, Taylor Prichett, Hunter Gibson, Mika Taganeca, and Dante Charlton.
Hannibal’s next match will be this Saturday, Dec. 1, when the Jr. Pirates travel to Moberly for the Moberly Tournament. The first matches are slated to begin at 9 a.m.
