Troop B of the Missouri State Highway Patrol has announced the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday traffic crash and preliminary enforcement totals for the 16 counties in northeast Missouri.
During the 2012 Thanksgiving weekend traffic crash counting period, which began on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 6:00 p.m., and ended Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at 11:59 p.m., Troop B officers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). In addition to Operation C.A.R.E., Troop B officers participated in a 20-Mile Trooper enforcement operation on U.S. 61 throughout the Troop B area, and selected portions of U.S. 24 and 36, on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 25. During these operations, troopers investigated 20 traffic crashes, in which there were zero fatalities and five individuals injured.
Preliminary enforcement totals show Troop B officers made 14 arrests for driving while intoxicated, seven arrests for drug violations, issued 430 citations for speed, 73 seat belt citations, and assisted 149 motorists. Troopers also issued 788 warnings.
