Leitha Marie (Swigert) Worthen, passed away on November 7, 2012, at the age of 95 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Leitha was born to Theodore and Elizabeth Nichols Swigert on February 1, 1917 in Madison, Illinois.
She was married to Milton L. Worthen Sr. on June 19, 1937, and the two spent 72 and a half wonderful years together until his passing on February 23, 2010.
Leitha was a homemaker all of her adult life and was always happiest when she was able to spend time with her children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leitha was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Milton “Bud” Worthen Sr., two daughters, Gloria Hays and Nancy Jo Worthen, and her grandson, Charlie Ludwig.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Thompson of Monroe City, MO; her son, Milton “Bud” Worthen Jr., of Mount Pleasant, Texas; 3 sisters, Mickey Little, Mildred Little and Betty Sappington all of whom live in Florida; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012, at Holy Family Church, 1111 Broadway, Hannibal, Missouri, 63401. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Graveside Services and Burial will be at 11 a.m. December 1, 2012 at Calvary Cemetery, 2910 S. State Route 157, Edwardsville, Illinois, 62025.
The James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
