Ruby F. McDowell, 89, of Hendersonville, Tenn., and formerly of Hannibal, Mo., died at 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at the National Health Care Center in Hendersonville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at the Clover Road Christian Church in Hannibal. Pastor Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
The James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mrs. McDowell was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Hannibal to Archie and Ethel Carrico Kerns.
She was married to Billy Glenn McDowell on July 7, 1946, in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1969.
Survivors include her sons, Ron McDowell of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Jeffrey McDowell of Cypress, Calif.; her sisters, Rosetta Moss of Naples, Fla., and Virginia Bell of Anna, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jimmy Kerns, Orville Kerns, Roy Kerns and Richard Kerns; and her sister, Alberta Kerns.
She worked for 18 years as a book binder for Western Printing in Hannibal. She also worked as a secretary for the Hannibal Police Department, and for the Pastry Box in Hannibal. She was a Mary Kay Cosmetic representative for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Clover Road Christian Church.
