Donald Ray “Pogo” Hoehne, 77, of Palmyra, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at the Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal, Mo. Pogo was born March 10, 1935, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Carl Christian and Lura Ellen Clark Hoehne.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles C. “Chuck” Hoehne of Palmyra, and Carl K. “Splinter” Hoehne of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1954 graduate of Palmyra High School.
Pogo was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He served with a tank battalion at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He also served in the Honor Guard with his duty overseas in Korea.
Pogo was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt, fish, and shoot his bow. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends both bowling and golfing. He was a master gardener and loved tending to his roses. He was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra. Rev. Eric Anderson will officiate. Graveside military honors will be provided by the Boots Dickson American Legion Post #174 and the Norfolk Smith VFW Post 11041.
Memorial contributions may be made to Palmyra United Methodist Church.
