Edwin V. Harmening, 81, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at his home.
The Waverly, Iowa, native was the son of the late Roland and Josephine Homan Harmening.
He married Marilyn Quaas on Oct. 25, 1952, in Cedarburg, Wis. She survives.
Mr. Harmening was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the University of Dayton and worked at Old Fort Industries in Fort Wayne, for 22 years, as well as D&N Micro-Products, also in Fort Wayne.
He was an active member of Our Hope Lutheran Church in Huntertown, Ind., and in his community.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn Harmening of Fort Wayne, survivors include his children, Sheri (Michael) Diedrich of Fort Wayne, Keith (Liz) Harmening of Palmyra, Mo., Sandy (Mike) Plank of Albion, Ind., and Debbie Gentry of Toledo, Ohio; three sisters, Carol Herman of Waverly, Iowa, Kathy Salge, of Sacramento, Calif., and Lois Fredrick of Holmen, Wis.; and four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Harmening; and a sister, Marion Hesse.
Services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in Our Hope Lutheran Church, 1826 Trinity Drive, Huntertown. Entombment with military honors was at Highland Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.
