Two Hannibal men were taken into custody for drug distribution following a traffic stop Friday night.
According to police, at 7:31 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle on Broadway near Grand Avenue for an equipment violation. Approaching the vehicle the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from its interior.
The driver, a 25-year-old Hannibal man, was arrested for driving while revoked and the vehicle was searched. During the course of the search a large quantity of what is believed to be marijuana was located. Also found were items used in the distribution of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
The driver also was arrested for delivery of a controlled substance. He was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Marion County Jail.
A passenger in the vehicle, a 26-year-old man from Hannibal, was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance. He was released pending warrants.
