Grant L. Wiley, 51, of San Diego, California, lost his battle with cancer and entered God’s Kingdom on November 12, 2012. Beloved son of Rita G. Mack of Hannibal, MO, grandson of the late Russell J. Mack Sr. and Florence A. (Bridget) Mack. Former step-son of Joe and Margie Slotnik who always treated Grant like their own son. Cherished nephew, cousin, and friend to all who met him. Grant was adored by his cousin Dianna Mack-Phares of Weldon Spring, MO. Their shared humor and Grant’s lilting laugh are most precious memories to her.
He is survived by his long-time best friend and partner of 30 years, John Cox, as well as special friends Manuel Comacho and Tony Brazelton of San Diego, California. Many thanks to the Critical Care Unit staff at University of California, San Diego Medical Center. Their excellent care and tireless compassion gave Grant a loving and peaceful end.
Many thanks to the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Riverview Nazarene Church family and all those who prayed for Grant. Your support and prayers meant so much to him.
Grant was the heartbeat of his mother and the most loyal, caring and considerate man a person could have the privilege to know. He was loving, brilliant and witty and faced adversity with courage and grace. He was generous with his love of family and friends and left all who knew him a better person.
Grand was a proud civilian employee of the U.S. Navy in San Diego and former employee of the San Diego Padres. He enjoyed Interior Design and was a consultant to a number of Hollywood celebrities, with Bette Midler being his favorite.
He was an eye tissue donor.
