The Evening Etude’ Music Club met Nov. 13 in the Monroe City home of Dorothy Kern, with Bonnie Berrey serving as co-hostess.
A report by Amy Foreman concerning the “Shaped Note Clinic” was given with the announcement that a Hannibal Chapter my be organized.
Caden Pennewell of Monroe City, who has been taking piano lessons for two years, presented three selections - “Maple Leaf Rag,” “This Little Light of Mine” and “Moonlight Sonata.”
Members were reminded of upcoming musical events: Mark Twain Chorale Christmas Concert, Dec. 15, at HLGU Parker Theatre and the Monroe City Singers Concert at 3:30 p.m., Dec. 9, at the Monroe City Methodist Church.
As part of the program and study on music from America’s wars, the hostesses created a game of Civil War era music called “Name that Tune.” Hearing factual hints and one to six musical notes, the competing teams earned points and prizes.
Poetry - “Little Fingers of Love” - was presented, and the hymn, “For the Beauty Of the Earth” was sung.
