Lester Dean Lake Sr., 77, of Center, Mo., died at 11:02 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Richard Epperson and Pastor Berdette Cook will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be at Centenary Cemetery in Rural New London, Mo.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Lake Sr. was born May 12, 1935, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Buck and Leona Milam Lake.
He was married to Carol J. Griffin on May 12, 1960, in Hannibal, Mo. She preceded him in death March 12, 2005.
Survivors include his mother, Leona Lake; 2 sons, Howard Lake of Center, Mo., and Melvin Lake (Sarah) of Center, Mo.; 1 daughter, Jackie Kenner of Rogersville, Tenn.; 1 brother, Wayne Lake (Margaret) of New London, Mo.; 2 sisters, Bonnie Morrison of New London, Mo., and Joyce Stout of New London, Mo.; grandchildren, Daulton Lake, Josey Lake, Ashley Long McDowell, Samantha Long, Jessica Long McCulley, Caleb Kenner and Shyan Kenner; 1 great grandchild, Steven McCulley Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, father, and 1 son, Lester Dean Lake Jr.
Mr. Lake was a United States Army veteran. He worked as a union laborer and previously worked on the construction of the Clarence Cannon Dam. Mr. Lake enjoyed woodworking, tractors and anything that had a motor. He was a Christian by faith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Melvin Lake for the Family, in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joe Howald, Billy Joe Klise, Charlie Ruhl, Tommy Finnigan, Darrell Fuqua and Larry Voepel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Klise and Steven Lehenbauer.
