The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor will begin work next spring to repair and resurface almost 12 miles of the north and southbound lanes and shoulders of U.S. 61 from just south of Missouri 19 at New London to Route UU in Pike County near Bowling Green.
The driving lanes and shoulders of both northbound and southbound U.S. 61 will be resurfaced with 1.5 inches of asphalt.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded the resurfacing project to Bross Construction Company, Inc. of Hannibal, at $1,465,062.94.
Work will be complete by the fall of 2013. U.S 61 will remain open to traffic but will be restricted to one lane at times.
