  • Nadeen Brookshire McCoy, formerly of Hannibal, Mo., who served her Lord, celebrated all things musical and relished time with her family, friends and beloved students, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in her hometown of Greenville, S.C.

  • Nadeen Brookshire McCoy, formerly of Hannibal, Mo., who served her Lord, celebrated all things musical and relished time with her family, friends and beloved students, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in her hometown of Greenville, S.C.
    Born on Aug. 12, 1930, to Jeanette and Boyd Brookshire, she received a bachelor’s of music from Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C., and a master of music in voice from Southern Seminary, Louisville, Ky.
    She served on the music staff at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky., and as a Children’s Music Specialist at the Baptist General Convention of Texas. She later served as adjunct professor at Howard College in Birmingham, Ala., and then at Louisiana College in Pineville, La. Her career was defined by 26 joyous years serving as an Associate Professor of Music at Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal, Mo., where she taught church music and music education courses, directed the concert choir, and taught voice. She authored many articles about children’s music for a variety of religious publications.
    She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Floyd McCoy; friends; and many students whom she thought of as her children.
    Services will be held on Saturday in Greenville.
